Richard Germain is currently the Director of the Deutsche Bahn and Russian Railways Center for International Logistics and Supply Chain Management (CIL) which is located at the Graduate School of Management, St. Petersburg State University (Russia).

He also holds the position of Professor at EBS University (Germany). Prior to joining the CIL team, he served on the faculty of Oklahoma State University and the University of Louisville. He obtained a Bachelor's degree from Concordia University (Montreal, 1981), an MBA from McGill University (Montreal, 1986), and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University (East Lansing, Michigan, 1989). His research has been published in a number of academic journals including the Journal of Marketing Research, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of Operations Management, and Decision Sciences Journal. His primary research interests includes the fit among supply chain strategy, innovation adoption, environment, organizational structure, and process variance in predicting and explaining supply chain and organizational performance. He has taught at the bachelor's, masters' and Ph.D. levels and instructed in executive education programs on supply chain management, marketing management, and statistics.
